My Brother-in-law and his girlfriend are in town visiting and we spent the day on the North Shore. Lots more photos to come in a post on the North Shore, but right now we are still busy exploring the island with them!

Watching | The Croods with my son. Sometimes the only chance I have to write is while he’s watching TV. Yes, I feel guilty about that!

Enjoying | My last couple weeks in Hawaii. Oh man, let me count how many days I have left… OMG 17 days left in paradise :(

Wishing | I could live in Hawaii forever.

Listening to | Still Coldplay… need to buy some more music asap

Drinking | Longboard beer. Well I had one last night, I’m not literally drinking one right now. It’s 7:15am.

Worried about | Literally everything that could wrong with the move. Most importantly, my spectacular book collection getting ruined. Also the fact that our things won’t arrive in Germany until mid-November *sigh*

Reading | Master the Basics of German. My mom found the book at the Friends of the Library sale at the Kapolei Library for $1.

Thankful for | time to learn German! Now that I’m not taking any classes this semester, I can spend any free time I have learning German. I love languages and I’m really looking forward to learning more about the German language!

I love language learning too! Have you tried the Duolingo app? It”s basically a free Rosetta stone! I have used it for French and Spanish, and it is fabulous! Now, to really learn a language, I think you would need to teach yourself grammar on the side, but Duolingo is fantastic for listening and vocabulary.

Yes! I like that app. Although I wish it would show a list of new words BEFORE quizzing you on them! I always feel like I’m forgetting something I’m supposed to know, when I haven’t even learned it yet :) Maybe I haven’t figured the app out yet!

I would be sorry to leave paradise too. Germany sounds like such a fun adventure though! Will you take a language course once you get there? I took an intensive language course in Spain, and I was nearly fluent in 3 short months. It is amazing how much being immersed in it helps!

Wow that’s amazing! I would love to be fluent so quickly! I will definitely look into an intensive language class there.

    Hi! Stopping over from onelyric!

I have always had a wandering spirit so reading about your travels was wonderful! Hawaii though, man that would be a tough place to leave. We lived in FL for almost 2 years, 10 mins from the beach, then moved to Seattle. Pretty sure we went into shock from lack of sun and warm weather.

I know your next move is monumental.. What a cool life story you are writing. Much to share with grandkids one day.

Have an awesome Monday!! ~ Courtney

Thanks Courtney! Yeah I was packing my suitcase full of jeans and sweaters – haven’t worn a lot of that stuff in over 2 years!

How awesome that you are starting a new adventure in Germany. Being completely emerged in the language and culture definitely helps you to pick it up quickly. Also, the app Duolingo helped me a lot with vocabulary and such when I was learning Portuguese. I still use it from time to time. Good luck. :)
